How to Import the MonkeyCraft Server Map into JourneyMap

This guide shows you how to import the pre-generated MonkeyCraft world map into your local JourneyMap so you can see the full world without exploring it manually.

🧭 Overview

JourneyMap stores its map tiles locally on your computer, not on the server.
To help you start with a fully revealed map, the MonkeyCraft team provides a ZIP file containing the pre-rendered tiles from the server world.

You’ll only need to do this once per modpack update.

📦 Step 1: Download the Map File

  1. Download the latest pre-generated map ZIP

  2. Save it somewhere easy to find, like your desktop or Downloads folder.

📝 Tip: Do not unzip it yet — you’ll import it directly inside JourneyMap.

⚙️ Step 2: Import Using JourneyMap

  1. Join the MonkeyCraft server with the modpack installed.
  2. Press J to open JourneyMap.
  3. Click the ⚙️ Options button (top right).
  4. Choose Import/ExportImport Map.
  5. Select the ZIP you downloaded earlier.
  6. Wait while it imports the map tiles — this can take a minute.

When it’s done, your in-game map will now show the entire pre-rendered world!

🧠 Note: You can safely import even if you’ve already explored parts of the map. JourneyMap will merge your existing tiles with the imported ones.

💾 Step 3: Verify Your Map

Press J again and zoom out — you should now see the full MonkeyCraft world rendered in your minimap and fullscreen map.

If parts are missing:

  • Make sure the ZIP matches your modpack version.
  • Check that the folder under journeymap/data/mp/ matches the exact server address.

🧩 (Optional) Import Waypoints

If the ZIP includes a waypoints/ folder:

  1. Copy all .json files from it.
  2. Paste them into:
